When you plan the enjoyment
of the
Lockwood Partner’s Reserve of 2004,
plan for a long enjoyable evening. This
wine was born in the last vintage of a
series of drier than normal growing
seasons. The vineyard having had no
excess seasonal moisture for three years showed a different
expression in the vintage of 2004. The crop load was small
and it ripened early, clearly the effect of the previous drought.
We picked the fruit in the second week of October at full
maturity and excellent flavor.
In the cellar we choose a yeast to complement
the full ripeness of the
Cabernet and the fermentation lasted a full 10 days. The aromatics
that evolved promised something special. This wine was barreled
for 24 months in French oak barrels and softened gracefully.
Once you open this Reserve, taste the
explosion of black cherry fruit for this
will develop into an elegant aromatic as the lush middle palate
evolves. Patience is rewarded with this wine after a brief
chance to open, the notes of the toasty oak, and complex fruit
show an incredible layered wine with balance and strength.
Firm tannins hold your attention as the lovely fruit flavors
show you what our Partner’s offer as the 2004 Reserve.
Enjoy.
